The Dimplex Smart Room heating app combines maximum comfort with optimum efficiency.

Kulmbach, March 2017. Dimplex does away with rigid settings based on external temperatures, making subjective perception of temperature the sole criterion. The Dimplex Smart Room heating app controls the heating simply according to the user’s requirements – and communicates directly with the heat pump as heat source. This will revolutionise heating controls: no longer will a rigid setting determine if it’s warm enough but the homeowner themselves. There’s just one proviso: the heat pump must be running at maximum efficiency at all times. Automatically! This new control mechanism has implications for fitters: they only need to set the maximum temperature once - the customer makes any further adjustments themselves, using the app to control the heat pump and ventilation. The Smartphone App for Apple iOS is available already and Android will be ready to download from the end of 2017.

Simply end with the decision between comfort and efficiency.

There are a number of benefits for users: They can accurately adjust the internal temperature of up to 10 rooms to a comfortable level according to their personal requirements down to the nearest 1/10th of a degree – and so benefit from maximum efficiency across the entire heating and ventilation system. Intuitive and extremely easy to operate, energy saving is now even more fun and users can experience the efficiency gains directly in the app. In the past users of heating systems had to choose between comfort and efficiency - often without being able to assess what the individual occupants regarded as a comfortable temperature and the implications that had on operating costs. Because the installer sets the heating curve for the heat pump only one single time: according to customer require- ments either a few degrees higher – or right at the lowest possible limit. The conse- quences: either it was cosy warm but on higher costs – or money was saved but periods of shivering have to accepted.

Behind the new Dimplex Smart Room heating app lays an individual room control which gives the heat pump a direct influence on each room. So the heating system knows the current temperature of each room at all times – and can regulate each one independently from the other ones. Users can rest assured on the system operating always at maximum efficiency: the heat pump (or, to be precise, the heat pumps manager which controls the entire heating system) determines the lowest possible – and consequently most efficient and energy-saving – flow temperature. Finally, loss of efficiency occurs in many cases because of the imprecise hydraulic balance. In such cases the flow rate of the hot water in the circuit doesn’t correspond to the temperature required in the individual rooms, leading to an inefficient use of resources – or too cold room temperatures. Room and usage scenarios can be created through user profiles, in line with wishes and requirements of the different residents. The app is already prepared for analysing operating data constantly, in order to visualise gained efficiency benefits and display further potential savings. If there are deviations in operation mode, which could lead to higher operating costs, the user receives a push-message and so can make the necessary adjustments. This function will be available with the next update.
