With System M, Glen Dimplex Thermal Solutions has revolutionised the heat pump. The smart user interface has now received the renowned Red Dot Award 2018.

Berlin/Kulmbach. It’s actually much too beautiful to hide away in the “heating room”. System M, the multi-award winning heat pump from Glen Dimplex Thermal Solutions (GDTS), not only impresses with outstanding technical features, high quality “Made in Germany” and outstanding performance, but also with its well thought out design. This also applies for the smart digital GDTS User Interface. And this design has now been recognised with the renowned Red Dot Award 2018 in the category “Interface Design”, which was awarded at a gala event in Berlin. This marks the GDTS User Interface out as one of the most creative and best designed concepts out of the 8,610 design projects entered.

And the jury of 24 international experts were impressed: All functions and parameters are controlled via a high-resolution 7-inch touch display directly on the indoor unit of the heat pump or via an app (GDTS Home) on a smartphone or tablet. The award-winning, minimalist design, which runs through all products and communication channels at GDTS and fulfils high aesthetic demands with a high recognition value, is easy to understand, yet also communicates the emotion of a strong brand. Typical GDTS: simple symbols and elegant coloured tiles in black, grey and red provide visual structure on the display. In addition to these basic elements, animations provide even more comfort and fun during operation.

GDTS has developed different operating structures depending on the user type - professional or layman. This means that any end user can control their System M independently, easily, quickly, intuitively and without specialist knowledge from home or while on the move via smartphone. Easily with just a finger tip.

The Red Dot Award, known as the “German prize for communication design” until 2001, has been awarded every year since 1993. The initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Awards is Professor Peter Zec. Under the motto “In search of good design and creativity”, the Red Dot Award seeks out good designs and creative projects from designers, agencies and companies all over the world every year.
