The modular heat pump system System M from Glen Dimplex Thermal Solutions has received two renowned international design awards: the German Design Award and the iF Design Award.

Kulmbach. – The modular heat pump system System M from Glen Dimplex Thermal Solutions (GDTS) has received not one, but two awards. At a gala event in Frankfurt, managing director of the German Design Council, Andrej Kupetz, handed over the German Design Award 2018 to Henrik Rutenbeck, Chief Marketing Officer at GDTS. System M received the internationally renowned award in the "Energy” category. The “German Design Council” foundation founded in 1953 by the initiative of the German Federal Parliament issues this award to honour outstanding product design. System M triumphed against strong competition with over 2000 nominated products.

The jury explained their choice as follows: “The ultra-modern air-to-water heat pump can be configured optimally for the relevant heat consumption thanks to its modular design. The fact that the colour and material can be adapted to the aesthetics of the building and surroundings – thus cleverly concealing its technical function – makes the coherently designed System M an attractive alternative.”

The second award for System M comes from the iF International Forum Design from Hanover. Here, the pioneering product from Kulmbach won this year’s iF Design Award in two categories: for the overall product concept and the well thought out operator guidance that makes controlling the heat pump system extremely easy. System M impressed the 63-man independent, international expert jury with its unique combination of outstanding design and innovative technology. There were many applicants: The jury had to award the coveted quality label to products from over 6,400 entries from 54 countries. Both competitions are among the most important design prizes in the world; the iF Design Award has been running for 65 years.

“We are very proud that System M impressed the juries in these prestigious competitions”, says a delighted Henrik Rutenbeck. “It was clearly the right decision to develop a heat pump that is not only radically efficient, but also radically aesthetic.”
